Dicomano is one of the villages in the Mugello area. Dicomano has ever represented a meeting point of different traditions and a major shopping area in connection with the Romagna; in fact it has a central position, between the streets that are conducting to Florence, Casentino, and also to Romagna.
Placed on the river called “Comano”, this land has a very old origin, dating back to Etruscan times, whose finding are in the archeological excavations in the area of Frascole (the excavations are freely visitable.)
In Dicomano you have the possibility to visit both mountain landscape, in direction of the village of San Godenzo, and hilly areas, along the areas of Val di Sieve and Mugello.
In the historic center of the town is possible to admire the elegant palaces from 1600/1700, like the “Palace Of Pools” or the “Palazzo Della Nave”, in Buonamici's square.
For nature lovers, it's a must to see the National Park of Casentino Forests, Mount Falterona and Campiglia, easily reached from the village, which covers 36.200 ha. on the ridge of Tuscan and Romagna Appenines, and includes the most extensive forests and pristine throughout Italy.
The range of events in Dicomano is various; very interesting are the Archeology’s nights, the "rificolonata" (for children) and the various Christmas events.
The country is reached, as well as by car, also by train and by bus (very frequent).
