ARRIVING BY CAR

If you are arriving by car or by another private mean of transport, there are many access: if you come from north or south on the Highway A1 (Autostrada del Sole), arrive in Barberino di Mugello and you will already be in the heart of the valley.

From Florence there are two main roads leading to Mugello: via Bolognese, along it the first town you reach is Vaglia, and via Faentina, which directly leads to Borgo San Lorenzo and San Piero a Sieve.

For all the people who find relaxing driving on not busy and very paronamical roads, there is an alternative to take into account: in fact, leaving from Florence, you can drive along a road which passes through Pontassieve, Rufina and Dicomano and leads you to Vicchio. Of course, the way is definitely longer, but maybe it is worth loosing time to admire the landscape of hills, along this road.

Coming from north you can drive along via Bolognese, descending from Futa Pass and arrive directly in Barberino di Mugello. Another way is via Faentina, connecting Faenza with Palazzuolo, Marradi and Borgo San Lorenzo. The first town you will find is Firenzuola if you drive from north to south, via Imolese, connecting Imola with the valley.

People who love bends and come from north will not miss the road passing through the Muraglione Pass connecting Forlì with Dicomano and Vicchio: a route full of bends, for motor rider and for the ones who don't like straight (and direct) routes.
